Verizon have several hardware categories; High Speed Internet, FiOS Internet,FiOS TV,Direct TV, PDAs & Smart Phones and BlackBerry Devices. A PDA phone is used for business as well as personal use; it has features such as touch screen and camera. A Smart Phone on the other hand is mainly a phone, with some PDA phone features like organizer function and data viewing capabilities without editing functions. FiOS is a telecom service that is offered over fiber-optic lines. One of the main benefits of FiOS is its speed. Verizon FiOS lines can reach 30 megabits a second. This is a huge improvement over current DSL lines, which deliver data at up to 1.5 megabits a second.

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. However, Verizon Wireless has joined the Linux Mobile (LiMo) Foundation and has announced plans to adopt the open source software platform. Linux-based phones will be available from Verizon next year.

Both platforms have very different technical approaches to the same problem and offer their own unique and distinctive advantages. Verizon could offer a selection of handsets for each platform and allow consumers to choose.

For workforce Management Verizon offers Automated Workforce Administration System (AWAS), onsite customers service that serves the central office and outside plant technicians for repair, service orders, and routine maintenance. For network security Verizon offer Access Guardian, this is a verified network access control and security solution. What Access Guardian does is it solves the problem of providing remote access to network elements while maintaining strict security. The solution provides authorized remote access to mission critical network elements but limits the commands a user can execute.
