Introduction/History/CEO of verizon


Verizon is a company that provides it’s customers with everyday necessities such as internet, TV, phone, and wireless. Verizon provides high speed internet that is powered with broadband technology. It provides all it’s customers with quick connection. It also allows there users to utilize both internet and phone at the same time. Verizon also has FiOS internet which provides maximum speed connection. The Mbps depends on your location. Downloads and uploads will vary by numerous of factors. FiOS T.V. have more then 300 digital channels and 22 local and national channels. FiOS T.V. also has 2,300 on demand titles, so you can watch them whenever you like instead of waiting for it to come up. Verizon can provide Direct T.V. service. Verizon phones offer numerous of local and long distance plans, international plans, and calling features. Verizon now offers wireless PC card plans, which allows you to access the internet, business applications, and emails to your labtop.
Verizon Communications Inc., based in New York and incorporated in Delaware , formed on June 30, 2000, with the merger of Bell Atlantic Corporation and GTE Corporation. With the outstanding wireless capabilities represented by Verizon Wireless, businesses can benefit from one of the world's premier wireless communications companies. Consumers have a single-source for all communication needs - from long distance and local phone services and features, to Internet access, wireless service, high-speed connectivity and satellite television service.
The “VZ” symbol was selected because it signify the two letters of the Verizon logo that graphically represent speed, while also echoing the genesis of the company name veritas; the Latin word certainty and reliability. As well as word horizon, which signify forward-looking and visionary.
The Chairman and CEO of verizon is currently Ivan Seidenberg. Seidenberge was essential in the forming Verizon through several combining of companies and company department, such as MCI, GTE, Bell Atlantic and NYNEX. He also assisted in making Verizon wireless by jointing assets of U.S. properties of Vodafone AirTouch, GTE Wireless, and Bell Atlantic Mobile. Seidenberge was also the Chairman and CEO of NYEX and Bell Atlantic. He has a long communication career where he began as a cable splicer’s assistant. Throughout the years he had various assignments and obtained many leadership position in Bell Atlantic and NYEX. HE is committed to find innovative ways to use communications technology to enhance education and literacy performance in this country. In 2007, President George W. Bush appointed Seidenberg to the National Security Telecommunications Avisory Committee. His task is to advise the president on communications concerns relating to protection of critical communication, emergency preparedness, and national security. In 2008 he became chairman of the Business Roudntable’s Health and Retirement Task Force. Seidenberg got his bachelor’s degree from Lehman College which is part of the City University of New York. He then got his master’s degree in business administration and marketing from Pace. He is married to Phyllis and has two adult children. He lives in New York.
